What Does this blood Test Result Mean?

Hello - I m female and pregnant. I had blood work done and can see my test results through my profile. I m trying to figure out information about Hep C Virus. The test result shows this exactly: Hep C Virus. Ab -positive: 0.9 -the CDC recommends that a positive HCV antibody result -be followed up with a HCV Nucleic Acid Amplification Does this mean I have HCV?! Will my baby have it? Is my baby in danger?

Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, if you have hepatitis B virus screening positive then you should get amplification tests done and whether your disease is active or not will be decided on that result.

Plus treatment will be initiated after the report. your baby will also need screening if your further tests would be positive.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
